About the role

Transport Maintenance and Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Boilermaker / Welder to join our team in Alice Springs, NT. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on a variety of welding and boilermaking projects in a agile maintenance and engineering environment. You will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing boilers, tanks, and other metal structures using advanced welding techniques.

This role is integral to maintaining the quality and safety standards of our operations, and you will work on-site at our Alice Springs facility.

Key responsibilities

- Perform gas and arc welding on a variety of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Fabricate and assemble boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and other metal structures according to specifications and technical drawings
- Inspect completed work and conduct quality checks to ensure adherence to industry standards and safety requirements
- Operate welding equipment and maintain tools in good working order
- Prepare work areas and materials for fabrication and welding operations
- Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time and within specifications
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work specifications
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on existing boiler and metal structures as required

What we're looking for

- A valid welding qualification or recognised boilermaking apprenticeship certification
- Proven experience in boilermaking, welding, or similar metal fabrication work
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and stick welding




- Sound knowledge of welding safety practices and ability to work in compliance with relevant Australian standards and regulations
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in varied conditions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Current driver's licence is advantageous
- Experience with pressure vessel work or industrial boilermaking is highly desirable
