Our client is an established Building Surveying and Compliance consultancy, located just 10 minutes from Perth CBD. With over a decade of experience, the business delivers services across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout Western Australia, including commercial developments, aged care facilities, schools and airports.
As part of their continued growth, the business is seeking to hire a Level 2 Building Surveyor to join their team. You’ll work closely with experienced senior Building Surveyors and Directors, gain exposure to a broad range of projects and clients, and continue building your technical expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment.
About the role An excellent opportunity is available for a Level 2 Building Surveyor to join a highly regarded Building Surveying and Compliance consultancy in Perth.
Working closely with experienced Directors, Associates and Building Surveyors, you’ll support the delivery of private certification, building code, disability access and energy efficiency consultancy across a diverse project portfolio.
You’ll gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, from initial assessments and fee proposals through to certification and completion, while continuing to build your technical expertise, project exposure and client-facing capability within a cooperative and experienced team.
Working across a varied portfolio of projects, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and lodging certified building permit applications with relevant permit authorities, including DFES referrals
- Undertaking preliminary BCA/NCC assessments and reviewing project documentation
- Completing BCA and Building Regulatory Assessments and preparing compliance assessment reports
- Carrying out building compliance inspections on site
- Managing applications from fee proposal through to certification and completion
- Liaising with clients, architects, project stakeholders, DFES, councils and permit authorities
- Maintaining accurate project files and regulatory documentation
- Supporting senior Building Surveyors and Directors across more complex projects
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
About you You ideally have 1-3 years experience as an Assistant Building Surveyor or Building Surveyor and enjoy working across both the technical and client-facing aspects of building surveying.
- Current registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Building Surveying Practitioner Level 2 in Western Australia
- A recognised qualification in Building Surveying, or currently working towards completion, is highly desirable
- Good working knowledge of the National Construction Code ( NCC/BCA) and relevant WA building legislation and regulatory requirements
- Some exposure to building code assessments, certification and/or building permit applications and Class 2–9 projects would be advantageous
- Experience or exposure to liaising with councils, permit authorities, consultants, architects and other project stakeholders
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills
- Excellent attention to detail with a thorough and considered approach to compliance
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
- A proactive, client-focused approach with a genuine desire to continue developing your technical expertise
