About the role The Café & Food Services Assistant is a dual-role position that supports both café and catering operations. The café role involves providing excellent customer service to residents, employees, and visitors while maintaining food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards. You will contribute to the preparation and service of barista coffee making, meals, snacks, and beverages and support cleaning duties across both dining and catering areas.

This position plays a vital role in enhancing the resident dining experience, promoting resident choice, and supporting the smooth operation of food services within the facility. Working closely with the Senior Cooks and Catering Team, you will assist with meal preparation, service, cleaning, stock rotation, and ensuring a safe and welcoming dining experience for residents.

Key responsibilities

- Deliver excellent customer service in the café with a friendly, professional manner, ensuring a welcoming environment
- Prepare quality barista coffee, hot and cold beverages and food preparation/plating in a fast-paced café environment
- Operate the point-of-sale system, process EFTPOS and cash payments, and issue receipts
- Maintain, reconcile, and balance the café float daily; report any variances
- Restock shelves, fridges, and display cases, rotating stock for freshness whilst keeping the café area clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times
- Assist in the preparation of meals for special events, functions, or celebrations as directed
- Prepare drinks, special fluids, and meal trays according to individual resident requirements
- Assist with meal plating,



ensuring food is presented attractively and served at the correct temperature
- Deliver meals to residents and assist with the collection and clearing of trays and trolleys
- Maintain dining areas, kitchens, equipment, and workspaces to a high standard of cleanliness

About you

- Previous café, hospitality or barista experience is desirable
- Demonstrates a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Has a positive, flexible, and team-focused attitude
- Is reliable, punctual, and well organised
- Can work independently and follow instructions accurately
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills

Essential Requirements

- Previous experience in hospitality, café and barista experience is desirable, food services, catering, customer service, or a similar role.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

- Ability to follow food safety and infection prevention requirements.




- Availability to work a variety of shifts across Monday to Sunday.

Desirable

- Experience working within aged care, healthcare, disability services, hospitality, or a similar environment.
