Classification Level: 4 ($46.70 to $50.25 per hour)

POSITION SUMMARY

At Kyabra, our service teams use a strengths-based approach while working alongside people in our community to support them as they navigate the circumstances and systems that significantly impact their lives while helping them identify and achieve their personal goals.

Our Sunshine Coast teams provide housing and domestic and family violence support services to a broad range of community members who present, or are referred to, the organisation.

The Accommodation and Domestic and Family Violence (ADFV) team is responsible for providing information, assessment and referral services, and case management support to those in supported accommodation (including Kyabra’s shelter), and to clients accessing support through Kyabra’s Mobile Domestic and Family Violence (MDFV) service.

The Case Worker, ADFV, will ensure that the most appropriate and effective support services are provided to those experiencing domestic and family violence and unstable housing by providing case management support to a range of individuals and families to support aspirations, growth and positive change.

The position involves both centre-based and outreach functions involving coordinated work with a range of agency, community and staff resources.

This role is required to be available for an afterhours On-Call roster.

This is a fixed-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave with a proposed commencement date on or around Monday 28 September 2026. The current term of appointment is 12-months, however, there may be the potential to extend beyond this period.

Hours of Work The successful candidate is expected to work 68h 24m per fortnight during standard business hours.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications & Training

- Tertiary qualification (bachelor's degree or higher) in Human Services, Social Work, and/or another relevant field.

Skills,



Knowledge & Experience
- Demonstrated experience working in the community service sector in one or more of the following areas: intake and assessment, case management, domestic and family violence, housing support services, mental health etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act (2012), Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act (2008), and other relevant human services legislation.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of social justice, as well as a demonstrated capacity to work in ways that focus on people’s strengths.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively (as a team) or autonomously.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, including an ability to work autonomously or as part of a team, and adapt to various circumstances as necessary to support the organisation and/or community members.

History Checks & Clearances The successful applicant will be required to hold a positive result for the following mandatory Personal and Criminal History Checks:
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Open driver’s license (Queensland).

Desirable

- Demonstrated understanding of the issues/barriers facing people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and/or domestic and family violence, including ways to resolve or improve these issues.
- Knowledge of client management systems and the ability to rapidly learn new ones such as SRS, QHIP and/or other systems/databases.
- Existing community connections and referral networks, or the ability to rapidly acquire them.
