The Role
Urgent Care Clinics (UCC’s) provide care to people who require urgent care but not an emergency response. Working to reduce demand on Emergency Departments,
the UCC’s are a GP led multi-disciplinary service where clients with urgent but non-life-threatening conditions such as mild infections, minor fractures and minor burns can receive treatment outside of the emergency department. Patient referrals will be via the MBPH Emergency Department, Ambulance Victoria (AV), Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED), Nurse On Call, and walk-ins. The Registered Nurse will work within an appropriately equipped consulting space to provide high-quality assessment and care.
The Registered Nurse will participate in a roster which may include evening work and weekend work, both of which will attract penalty rates.
Performing a comprehensive initial assessment on clients who are prebooked or those who walk in to the service, the role will triage all patients both in accordance with UCC clinical practice guidelines and in conjunction with the GP on duty. The role will also ensure optimal patient flow with demand management with the ability to deliver a comprehensive suite of treatment options as directed by the General Practitioner/Nurse Practitioner.
