Job Description

We are seeking experienced Category Managers for a 6‐12 month fixed‐term contract within our Commercial team. The role offers a chance to immediately influence strategy, manage financial performance and growth, and lead a high‐performing team.

What you'll do

n

As a pivotal Commercial leader, you will develop and execute end‐to‐end category strategy, own profitability and market share, and coach a diverse team across cross‐functional functions.

- Drive strategy: Develop and implement customer‐centred category plans and reviews to meet KPIs across sales, profit, inventory, and market share.
n
- Create value: Negotiate effectively with suppliers on range, cost of goods and promotional investments to secure a competitive advantage.
n
- Own the "4Ps": Oversee product, price, promotion and placement, ensuring all legal and statutory compliance.
n
- Collaborate: Partner with Marketing, Online, Replenishment and Insights teams to deliver seamless category strategies.
n
- Lead & mentor: Coach, manage and develop team members to foster high performance and resolve customer or store issues promptly.

What you'll bring

To be successful, you will have:

- Proven buying/category management experience in a large supermarket or FMCG environment.
n
- Robust financial and data literacy (including Excel or Google Sheets) to develop market‐leading category plans and deliver continuous improvement based on commercial insights.
n
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels, combining excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative cross‐functional approach.
n
- A reputation as an outstanding leader and team player who can coach a high‐performing team.
n
- High organisational, adaptability, resilience and excellent communication skills in alignment with Woolworths values.
