Flavours of India Locations: Katherine NT and Alice Springs NT Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: $72,000 - $80,000 per annum + superannuation About Flavours of India Flavours of India is seeking experienced and motivated Chefs to join our kitchen teams in Katherine and Alice Springs, Northern Territory. We are looking for skilled culinary professionals with strong commercial cooking experience who can consistently deliver high-quality meals while maintaining excellent standards of food preparation, presentation, hygiene and kitchen operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and arranging the ordering of food supplies.
- Monitoring the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Discussing food preparation matters with Managers, Dietitians, kitchen staff and waiting staff.
- Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing advice on appropriate cooking procedures.
- Preparing and cooking a variety of food in accordance with established standards.
- Explaining, implementing and enforcing food hygiene and sanitation requirements.
- Selecting and training kitchen staff where required.
- Freezing and preserving food products when necessary.
Skills and Experience The successful applicant should have:
- At least one year of relevant previous work experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques.
- Experience in menu planning and estimating food and labour requirements.
- Ability to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation requirements.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy commercial kitchen workplace.
Qualifications and Experience A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred.
