Chakwal Group Pty Ltd Downtown Cafe Northbridge is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef / Cook to join our kitchen team on a full time basis. We are a busy café committed to providing fresh, quality food and friendly service. We are looking for a reliable hospitality professional who can work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen while maintaining consistent standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities Plan and organise ingredients and food preparation requirements for daily kitchen production and service. Prepare, cook and present a variety of café-style meals and takeaway menu items in accordance with recipes, portion sizes and quality standards. Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, mixing, seasoning and portioning according to menu and production requirements.

Use a range of cooking methods, culinary techniques and commercial kitchen equipment to prepare food efficiently and consistently. Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before preparation and cooking. Monitor food quality, taste, consistency, portion control and presentation during food preparation and service.

Prepare daily specials and assist with menu adjustments and improvements where required. Assist with developing and refining recipes, preparation methods and portion standards to maintain consistency and quality. Coordinate daily food preparation activities and provide guidance to junior kitchen staff on cooking techniques and kitchen procedures where required.

Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, receiving, storing and rotating food supplies in accordance with kitchen requirements. Store, label and rotate ingredients appropriately in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements. Minimise food wastage through appropriate preparation, portion control and stock rotation.





Coordinate food preparation during busy service periods to ensure orders are completed accurately and within required timeframes. Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen in accordance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements. Skills & Experience Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma of Hospitality Management (or equivalent qualification).

At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen. Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations. Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.

Ability to work efficiently and maintain quality standards during busy service periods. Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills. Reliable, motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
