4WD Technician / Motor Mechanic – Accessories & Vehicle Systems - Auburn NSW

SMS Personnel is seeking an experienced 4WD Technician / Motor Mechanic for a temporary assignment with a major Australian 4x4 accessories business in Auburn. The role combines premium 4WD accessory fitment with hands‑on mechanical work across suspension, differentials, vehicle charging systems and under‑vehicle components.

The role

- Fit bull bars, roof racks, canopies, protection equipment, trays and other 4WD accessories.
- Install and maintain fuel and air filtration systems.
- Install, diagnose and maintain dual-battery and vehicle‑charging systems.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and complete repairs within your demonstrated competency.
- Install and diagnose suspension and differential components, including bearings and differential assemblies.
- Support GVM upgrade and vehicle‑modification work in accordance with the host’s approved certification procedures.
- Test, adjust and validate mechanical and electrical components after installation or repair.
- Carry out wheel‑alignment checks and tyre inspections/fitments as required.




- Maintain secure workshop practices, complete daily equipment checks and care for workshop tools and assets.

Requirements

- Strong practical automotive mechanical and 4WD accessory‑fitting capability.
- A motor mechanic trade qualification / Certificate III or recognised equivalent is strongly preferred for candidates undertaking the full mechanic scope.
- Demonstrated experience with suspension, driveline/differential work and mechanical fault finding.
- Automotive electrical and dual‑battery/charging‑system experience is highly regarded.
- Current driver licence.
- High attention to detail, safe work habits and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a workshop team.
- Interest in 4WD vehicles and aftermarket accessories.
- Auburn‑based temporary assignment.
- Varied work across 4WD accessory fitment and vehicle mechanical systems.
- Established workshop procedures, products and technical support.
