As Chief Remote Pilot, you will be the CASA-approved key person accountable for the safe, compliant and efficient conduct of all RPA operations under our ReOC. You will lead our pilot workforce, own operational delivery from booking through to data handover, and work hand-in-glove with our sales team, delivery team, and clients to ensure every project is delivered safely, on time and to specification.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Regulatory Accountability:

- Discharge all Chief Remote Pilot duties under CASR Part 101 and the ReOC
- Maintain the operations manual and procedures library
- Ensure pilot competency, training and checking
- Manage flight authorisations, airspace approvals and area permissions
- Maintain operational records and reporting

Safety and Compliance:

- Own the safety management system
- Conduct risk assessments and JSAs for complex or near-infrastructure operations
- Embed a safety-first culture across all field activity
- Represent the business in CASA audits and engagements

Project Delivery:

- Coordinate delivery with the Geospatial Surveyor to ensure capture quality, coverage and timeliness
- Plan and sequence jobs methodically through established systems and workflows

access and logistics contingencies

Client Engagement:

Maintain regular, proactive communication with clients and/or site contacts before, during and after capture to ensure expectations are met and satisfaction is high

Pilot Workforce and Logistics:

- Roster and task RPA pilots, both employed and subcontracted
- Manage travel, transport and accommodation bookings for field deployments

Equipment and Assets:

- Maintain the RPA fleet, sensors, batteries and accessories to manufacturer and regulatory standards
- Keep maintenance logs and manage calibration, firmware and spares

Technical Enablement:

- Apply working knowledge of the Propeller platform, including planning and executing stockpile volumetric surveys with ground control (AeroPoints or equivalent)
- Support data QA and handover

Sales Support:

- Liaise with the business development team on the technical and practical feasibility of project enquiries - flight limitations, airspace constraints, capture methods and realistic delivery timelines

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced RPA operator who has built their career in commercial drone operations and has proven leadership experience running safe, compliant flight operations at scale.

Essential





- Hold a current RePL (multi-rotor essential; additional category ratings a plus) and either currently hold, or meet the requirements to be approved as, Chief Remote Pilot under a ReOC. AROC required.
- Substantial commercial RPA experience across survey, LiDAR and/or inspection work, ideally in utilities, mining, renewables, construction or insurance environments.
- A methodical approach to systems and procedures, with strong documentation and record-keeping habits
- Comfortable juggling schedules, travel logistics, client communication and field execution simultaneously across a national job board
- A clear communicator, confident engaging with clients, pilots, surveyors and regulators.
- You hold the line on safety even under commercial pressure and bring others with you

Highly regarded

- Experience with the Propeller platform, stockpile volumetrics and ground-control workflows
- LiDAR capture experience (e.g. drone-borne laser scanning) and familiarity with photogrammetry QA
- Instrument or manned-aviation background, or experience operating in controlled airspace (ReOC approvals for night, EVLOS/BVLOS operations a plus)
- Experience managing subcontractor pilot networks
- Trade or technical background in equipment maintenance
