An opportunity has become available for an experienced Financial Reporting Specialist to join a large, complex mining organisation on a contract through to March 2027.
Sitting within a well-established finance team, this role will take responsibility for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across a number of operational entities. You will work closely with senior finance stakeholders and operational teams, while also providing guidance and support to a small team.
This would suit someone with strong technical accounting and financial reporting capability who is comfortable reviewing work, challenging where required and communicating effectively with stakeholders across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Superintendent, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring a small team to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting;
- Reviewing financial results, general ledger reconciliations and month-end reporting;
- Preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements and solvency statements;
- Providing technical accounting support across rehabilitation provisions, leave provisions, port and rail accruals and leases;
- Supporting consolidated and statutory reporting requirements;
- Reviewing financial information and challenging outcomes where required;
- Driving improvements across reporting processes, controls and overall reporting quality;
- Building strong relationships with finance and operational stakeholders across the business; and
- Supporting the team through key reporting periods and broader finance requirements.

About You
You will be an experienced financial reporting professional with a strong technical accounting background and the confidence to operate within a large and complex organisation.
Ideally, You will have:
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline;
- CA or CPA qualification;
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, statutory reporting and financial controls;
- Previous experience reviewing financial statements and complex reconciliations;
- Leadership capability with experience coaching or developing team members;
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills;
- The ability to communicate confidently with stakeholders at different levels of an organisation;
- SAP experience will be highly regarded; and
- Previous mining, resources or another large operational environment would be advantageous.
The Opportunity
This is a contract opportunity through to March 2027, offering the chance to join a major mining organisation and work within a large, experienced finance function.
The role is based in Brisbane CBD and offers versatile working arrangements, including WFH and a nine-day fortnight.
