About the role

Blackrock Electrical Contractors Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Communications Cabler & Installer to join our growing team in Sydney. This is a full-time position based in Sydney NSW 2000, where you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality telecommunications infrastructure solutions to our clients. As a Communications Cabler & Installer, you will be responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of telecommunications cabling systems, ensuring all work meets industry standards and client specifications.

This role is essential to our operations, directly contributing to the successful completion of telecommunications projects that support businesses and organisations across the region.

Key responsibilities

- Install and terminate telecommunications cabling systems including copper, fibre optic, and structured cabling in accordance with Australian standards and industry best practices

- Perform cable testing and certification using appropriate testing equipment to ensure all installations meet performance requirements

- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and installation plans to accurately execute project requirements

- Prepare cable routes, conduits, and cable trays for installation, ensuring neat and professional presentation

- Terminate and label network cables at distribution frames, patch panels, and end-user locations

- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine cabling requirements and identify potential installation challenges

- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, testing results, and as-built drawings

- Collaborate with other tradespeople and team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget





- Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe work workplace

- Troubleshoot and resolve cabling-related issues to ensure optimal system performance

What we're looking for

- Current telecommunications cabler or installer qualification or equivalent demonstrated experience in communications cabling installation

- Proven experience in installing structured cabling systems, including copper and fibre optic cabling

- Working knowledge of telecommunications standards such as AS/NZS 3080, AS/NZS 1802.1 and relevant industry guidelines

- Proficiency with cabling testing equipment and familiarity with certification procedures

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation specifications

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to various job sites across Sydney

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- Current First Aid certification and commitment to workplace health and safety practices

- Flexibility to work on varied project schedules, including potential after-hours work when required
