This is an exciting opportunity to join headspace Caloundra and make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people across the Sunshine Coast.

Every year, headspace centres support thousands of young Australians to access help for their mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drug concerns, and work and study challenges. At headspace, young people are at the centre of everything we do, and meaningful youth participation is fundamental to how services are designed, delivered and improved.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Community Awareness and Engagement Co-ordindator to champion youth voice, strengthen community partnerships, build mental health literacy, and create meaningful opportunities for young people to influence services, programs and community change.

This is a unique opportunity to combine youth participation, community development, stakeholder engagement, health promotion and project coordination within a dynamic and growing youth mental health service.

Your Opportunity

As the Community Awareness and Engagement Co-ordindator you will play a pivotal role in connecting headspace Caloundra with young people, families, schools, community organisations and key stakeholders across the region.

You will lead initiatives that amplify youth voice, increase awareness of mental health and help-seeking, strengthen community connections, and promote the services available through headspace Caloundra. A key component of the role is ensuring young people are actively involved in shaping and improving the services they access.

- Working collaboratively with the Centre Manager, local leadership team and the broader Youth Engagement, Community and Lived Experience team, you will:
- Facilitate and grow the headspace Caloundra Youth Advisory Council (YAC)




- Create meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in service development, quality improvement, recruitment processes and governance activities.
- Develop and implement the annual Community Awareness and Engagement Plan.
- Deliver mental health awareness and education sessions in schools, universities, TAFEs and the broader community.
- Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with schools, health services, community organisations and youth-focused stakeholders.
- Coordinate local events and awareness campaigns such as Mental Health Week and headspace Day.
- Lead local social media and website content in partnership with young people and the service team.
- Support grant applications, fundraising activities and program reporting.

What Are We Looking For? You are someone who genuinely believes that young people should have a voice in the services and systems designed for them.

You are confident building relationships, facilitating groups, creating engaging opportunities for participation, and working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders. You enjoy being out in the community and are passionate about improving outcomes for young people.

You will bring

- Experience in youth participation, community development, health promotion, stakeholder engagement or community engagement, preferably within youth, health or mental health settings.
- Experience coordinating projects, groups, advisory committees or initiatives involving young people.
- Strong facilitation, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience planning and delivering events, workshops and community activities.
- Excellent planning, organisation and project management skills.
- Understanding of the mental health and wellbeing needs of young people, including those from diverse backgrounds and communities.
- Ability to work autonomously, show initiative and take ownership of program outcomes.




- Experience using digital communication and social media platforms.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and online communication tools.
- Experience developing promotional materials using Canva or similar design software.

Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Health, Mental Health or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Flexible Work Arrangements

We understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexibility where operational requirements allow. This role is offered as a 0.8 FTE position across four days per week, with a preferred work pattern of Monday to Thursday.

The successful candidate also has access to:

- Adaptable start and finish times
- One day per week work-from-home arrangement
- The opportunity to balance community-based work, events and office-based responsibilities.

Due to the nature of the role, occasional after-hours and weekend attendance may be required to support community events, stakeholder engagement activities and youth participation initiatives. Why Join Lives Lived Well?
