Constituent Officer (EOA)
Tom French MP The office of Tom French MP, Federal Member for Moore, is seeking applications for a part-time (3 days per week, Monday to Wednesday) ongoing Constituent Officer, based in the Joondalup electorate office in Perth, Western Australia.
Position Overview The Constituent Officer is the first point of contact for people seeking help from our office, leading casework and coordinating with agencies such as Services Australia, the NDIS, Immigration and Veterans' Affairs on behalf of our community.
This role would suit someone with strong people skills and a genuine interest in helping the Moore community navigate government services. You will work closely with our casework team to triage enquiries, draft correspondence and follow issues through to resolution, with regular contact with the Chief of Staff on progress and priorities.
The key duties of the position include but are not limited to:
- Respond to and manage incoming casework and constituent contact (walk-ins, email, calls), ensuring timely triage and response.
- Liaise with government agencies to resolve constituent issues, obtain updates and advocate for outcomes.
- Draft high-quality correspondence and maintain accurate case records.
- Maintain casework tracking systems and templates and follow authority-to-act processes.
- Support community outreach initiatives, including birthday and condolence card programs and new elector outreach.
- Identify systemic issues or opportunities arising from casework trends.
- Other duties as directed.
The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Experience in customer service, casework or administrative roles; experience in a political, government or community-facing role is desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills,
with robust attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple, competing tasks in a rapid-paced environment.
- Sound IT skills, including word processing and database management.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn, Australia’s system of government and parliamentary processes.
- A professional and discreet approach to handling sensitive constituent information.
Employment conditions: The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:
- A commencing salary between $77,071 and $81,594 (full-time equivalent) will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills. Salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis for the 3 days per week position.
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
- Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).

- An initial probationary period of three months may apply and may be subject to extension.
- The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
- Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
- The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
