Hutchies is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to come and join our Toowoomba team as Construction Cadets. If you want to kick start your career in construction, we would love to hear from you!
Our three year Cadetship program provides hands on experience across a diverse range of projects, allowing you to apply your studies in real world settings while developing valuable skills and competencies.
Cadetship Journey
- Phase 1: Construction & Site Operations (9 months)
- Phase 2: Commercial, Design & Management (15 months)
- Phase 3: Career Specialisation (12 months)
- Phase 4: Permanent Career Opportunity
Through structured exposure to project delivery, commercial, design and pre construction disciplines, you'll gain practical experience and develop a strong foundation for a long term career in construction. Graduates who successfully complete the program may be offered permanent roles, with clear pathways into Contract Administration, Estimating, Design Coordination, Project Management and other specialist disciplines. Responsibilities
As a Construction Cadet, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement and contract administration
- Maintaining project registers, including variations, EOTs and procurement records
- Preparing subcontract documentation and project correspondence
- Processing invoices and supporting project cost administration
- Taking and distributing meeting minutes
- Managing project documentation and document control processes
- Working closely with project managers, contract administrators and site teams
- Participating in regular site visits to gain practical project experience
- Assisting with defect management and project close-out activities
- Supporting the preparation of monthly project reports
- Providing general project and administrative support as required
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Reliable transport
- Strong achievement in Year 12 English and Mathematics
- A positive, proactive and can do attitude
- A willingness to learn and develop within a fast paced team environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
The following will be highly regarded:
- Previous trade or construction experience
- A tertiary qualification (completed, currently enrolled, or willingness to undertake further study) in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
