This is a unique opportunity tosupport Solomon Islands workers in Australia under the Pacific Australia LabourMobility (PALM) scheme. The role is with the SolomonIslands Labour Mobility Unit and is based in Australia, with Brisbane as thepreferred location.

Palladium isadvertising this role on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government. The CountryLiaison Officer is recruited by and reports to the Director of the SolomonIslands Labour Mobility Unit. An Australia-based Employer of Record providesoperational management, including contracting and logistical support.

Thisis a fixed-term opportunity to 30 June 2027, with possible extension.Applicants must already have valid work rights in Australia. This role is basedin Australia and visa sponsorship is not available.

Aboutthe Solomon Islands Labour Mobility Unit

TheSolomon Islands Labour Mobility Unit (LMU), within the Ministry of ForeignAffairs and External Trade, leads the Solomon Islands Government'sparticipation in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme and otherlabour mobility programmes. The PALM scheme enables Solomon Islanders to accessemployment opportunities in Australia, build skills and experience, andcontribute to their families and communities through remittances. The LMU workswith government, industry and development partners to support workerrecruitment, mobilisation, welfare and reintegration, ensuring labour mobilityopportunities are delivered in a safe, fair and inclusive manner that benefitsworkers, employers and the Solomon Islands economy.

Aboutthe role

TheCountry Liaison Officer will help Solomon Islands workers in Australiaunderstand their employment, workplace rights, responsibilities, superannuationand support options. The role works closely with the Solomon Islands LabourMobility Unit, PALM employers, Australian Government agencies, PLMSP, communityservices and other partners to support worker wellbeing and safe participationin the PALM scheme.

The role will:

Provide culturallyappropriate support to Solomon Islands workers,



including help tounderstand workplace rights, responsibilities, superannuation, pay,deductions and where to seek help.

Coach and build theconfidence of workers so they can understand their rights, manageemployment matters, raise concerns early and use the right support andreferral pathways.

Build positive workingrelationships with PALM employers, worker wellbeing staff, AustralianGovernment agencies, the Solomon Islands Government and communityservices.

Respond to complex,sensitive or urgent welfare matters in a calm, respectful and professionalway, including during critical incidents and crisis situations.

Manage competingpriorities, travel, records, reporting and urgent requests while keepingworker welfare and safety at the centre of the work.

Identify emergingwelfare trends and share practical feedback to help improve support forSolomon Islands workers.

TheSolomon Islands Labour Mobility Unit is looking for someone who:

Is fluent in Englishand a Solomon Islands language, and can communicate clearly with workers,employers and government stakeholders.

Has strong judgementand can stay calm, respectful and practical when responding to complexissues, complaints or crisis situations.

Can work independently,manage competing priorities and follow formal referral and escalationprocesses.

Has experiencesupporting people from diverse cultural backgrounds and building trustacross communities, employers and government partners.

Holds a currentAustralian driver licence and can travel within Australia, includingoutside regular business hours when required.

Is confident usingMicrosoft Office, email,



online systems and written records to manageinformation safely and accurately.
