About the role

As a Source Control Technical Officer, you will be at the forefront of Logan Water's trade waste and source control activities, helping to protect our wastewater network, treatment systems, the environment and public health.

This role combines technical expertise, compliance, environmental management and customer engagement. Working closely with trade waste customers, regulators and internal stakeholders, you will provide specialist advice, support compliance activities, contribute to environmental monitoring programs and help implement systems and processes that minimise environmental, operational and safety risks

You will play an important role in delivering Logan Water's trade waste management program, supporting regulatory obligations, investigating incidents, analysing data and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen environmental performance and sustainability outcomes across the business.

Position responsibilities include:

- Providing technical advice and support relating to trade waste management, source control and environmental compliance.
- Supporting trade waste approval processes and ensuring compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
- Contributing to the implementation and improvement of source control, environmental and sustainability management systems.
- Monitoring and assessing trade waste compliance activities and regulatory obligations.
- Analysing environmental, operational and customer data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Supporting trade waste incident investigations and the development of corrective and preventative actions.
- Contributing to environmental monitoring, audit and inspection programs.
- Preparing technical reports, recommendations and compliance documentation.
- Building positive relationships with customers, regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Supporting continuous improvement projects that enhance environmental performance and service delivery

Key indicators for success:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

- Experience in trade waste, environmental management, water quality, wastewater operations or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of contemporary water management, environmental compliance and sustainability practices.




- Understanding of wastewater and water treatment systems and associated operational risks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and customer data.
- Experience working with quality management systems, compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive working relationships.
- A customer-focused mindset with the ability to provide practical technical advice and solutions.
- Experience using databases, monitoring systems and business applications such as Excel and related information systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, risk management and environmental stewardship.
- Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in environmental science, water management, trade waste, chemistry, wastewater operations or a related discipline

Requirements:

To be employed in this position applicants must undergo additional employment-related background check/s (other than past employment reference checking) and be assessed as suitable to be able to ethically perform the inherent requirements of this position. This will include:

- National Police History Check
- Possession of a current "C" class driver's licence
- Ability to obtain Authorised Person status and pass the relevant Powers of Entry assessment.
- Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call roster as required
- Possession of a current 30215 General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) ticket.

This position has been identified as having a 'Significant Risk' of exposure to a disease preventable by vaccination. Therefore, it is a compulsory requirement of the position that the incumbent have the following vaccinations (which may vary in the future) in accordance with the terms of The Australian Immunisation Handbook and Council's Worker Vaccination Management Directive. Vaccines for this position currently include: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Q fever.
