We are seeking an experienced Workforce Transition Lead on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join our Human Resources & Safety Department.
This is a unique opportunity to lead and coordinate a significant workforce program, supporting our people while ensuring Gladstone Power Station maintains the workforce capability and critical skills required for ongoing operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Human Resources & Safety, the Workforce Transition Lead will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of workforce transition activities across the site.
Working closely with employees, leaders, unions and external stakeholders, you will help shape and deliver practical workforce initiatives across career development, skills and capability, training, workforce planning and transition readiness.
A key part of the role will be building trust with our workforce. You will work directly with employees to understand their skills, experience, career aspirations and development needs, while balancing employee outcomes with the future workforce requirements of the business.
You will also manage multiple transition programs and workstreams concurrently, bringing together internal and external stakeholders to ensure initiatives move from planning through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate workforce transition planning and programs across the site.
- Develop and deliver workforce transition, capability and development initiatives.
- Work directly with employees to explore career pathways, transferable skills, development opportunities and future employment options.
- Coordinate workforce profiling, skills and capability analysis and identify critical workforce risks.
- Identify and coordinate training, reskilling, upskilling and workforce development opportunities.
- Lead employee engagement activities including surveys, committees, workshops, information sessions and one-on-one discussions.
- Build trusted and productive relationships with employees, leaders, unions and other workforce representatives.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders including training providers, government agencies and other transition partners.
- Support leaders to maintain employee engagement, workforce capability and business continuity throughout the transition period.
- Manage transition reporting, governance, documentation and recommendations to management.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced workforce professional who can lead change, build trusted relationships and deliver complex workforce programs in an operational environment.
You will bring
- Demonstrated experience leading complex change, workforce development, people programs, workforce planning or similar initiatives.
- Strong project and program management capability, including experience delivering multiple programs and workstreams concurrently.
- A proven ability to build trust and establish credible relationships with employees at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to balance employee needs with business and operational requirements to achieve practical outcomes.
- Experience in workforce capability, learning and development, career development, skills assessment, reskilling or workforce planning.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills,
including confidence engaging with employees one-on-one and in group settings.
- Strong organisational and analytical capability and the ability to translate workforce information into practical actions.
- Experience working within an operational, industrial, energy, resources, manufacturing or similarly complex environment.
- Relevant qualifications in workforce development, learning and development, organisational development, human resources, business or a related discipline will be highly regarded; however, demonstrated relevant experience is equally valued.

- Experience in workforce transition, major organisational change, career transition or workforce transformation.
- Experience developing or delivering reskilling, upskilling, career development or workforce capability programs.
- Experience working with unions, training providers, government agencies and/or external workforce partners.
- Experience within the energy, resources, mining, manufacturing or heavy industry sectors.
