One Stone is a highly regarded modern Australian café located in South Yarra, Victoria. We are committed to delivering high-quality food using fresh, seasonal ingredients while maintaining consistent standards of food preparation, presentation and service. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook and present dishes in accordance with established recipes, kitchen procedures and quality standards. Assist with the preparation of breakfast, brunch, lunch and other café-style menu items. Measure, mix, portion and prepare ingredients according to recipes and service requirements.

Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Ensure food is cooked and presented consistently and to the required standard. Assist with food preparation before service and maintain an productive kitchen workflow during busy service periods.

Monitor food quality, freshness and portion control. Assist with stock rotation, storage and inventory checks. Minimise food wastage and follow appropriate food storage procedures.

Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety. Follow workplace health and safety procedures and relevant food safety requirements. Assist other kitchen staff during busy service periods as required.

Perform other reasonable duties associated with the Cook position.



Requirements Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience in a commercial kitchen. Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery , such as a Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent relevant skills and experience.

Sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques. Experience working in a commercial café, restaurant or similar food-service environment. Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.

Ability to follow recipes, preparation procedures and portion-control requirements. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen. Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to work a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays where required. Desirable Skills Experience in modern Australian café or brunch-style food preparation. Knowledge of seasonal and fresh produce.

Understanding of dietary requirements and allergen management. Ability to maintain consistency during high-volume service periods. Strong organisational and time-management skills.
