The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Coordinator Land Use Planning to lead a team of planning professionals and influence the strategic direction of the MidCoast. This is an opportunity to work on complex and meaningful planning projects that will guide housing, employment, infrastructure, environmental outcomes and sustainable growth across the region. Based in Taree, this permanent full-time role will suit an experienced planner who can lead a team of professionals, influence important decisions and make a lasting contribution to the community.

In this role, you will:

- Lead, support and develop a team of planning professionals.
- Work closely with the Manager Land Use Planning to coordinate the team's work program and deliver departmental priorities.
- Support the Manager and leadership team with strategic, operational and specialist planning matters.
- Provide advice and represent the team with Councillors, the community, Council staff, consultants and government agencies.
- Promote a positive team culture, manage competing priorities and support continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

- Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing planning professionals.
- Experience coordinating strategic planning projects and supporting the delivery of team and organisational priorities.
- Solid communication, consultation, relationship-building and influencing skills.
- Sound knowledge of planning legislation, with strong organisational, problem-solving and project management skills.

What we offer?





Salary: Commencing salary circa $124,000 - $136,000p.a. plus superannuation. (dependent on skills and experience) A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
