The opportunity
We're seeking applications from Business Analysts, specialising in costing, to join a Defence network uplift program in Canberra. This role owns cost model integrity across the program lifecycle; keeping budgets, forecasts and financial reporting aligned with Defence finance frameworks while supporting investment planning and stakeholder decision-making.
What you'll do
- Maintain and baseline the live cost model, including Government Furnished (GFX), procurement activities and vendor quotes
- Align project budgets with approved funding
- Manage integration of Hyperscaler service costs into financial models and reporting
- Conduct financial analysis to support Integrated Investment Program (IIP) cost estimations
- Prepare additional estimates and related financial submissions
- Develop project forecasts in collaboration with Delivery and Capability Management stream leads
- Assess and report Earned Value Management (EVM) impacts across the project
- Support Project Capitalisation (PCCAP) accounting treatment and MSA funding table updates
- Conduct contract cost reviews and resolve Defence Finance Group accounting queries
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated business analysis / cost analysis experience on complex programs
- Understanding of Defence finance frameworks, ERP cost structures and funding processes
- Experience with EVM, forecasting and cost model maintenance
- Prior Defence or APS finance workplace experience
- Familiarity with Hyperscaler/cloud cost management (FinOps)
- Exposure to Materiel Sustainment Agreements (MSA) and capability realisation planning
