Airswift is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in Portland, Victoria.

Responsibilities
n
n
- Deliver mechanical engineering services that meet customers and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
n
- Initiate, manage and if required supervise mechanical engineering project requirements.
n
- Perform mechanical engineering services such as:
n n
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
n
- Ensure the project scope is explicit and that changes comply with project change management processes.
n
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders.
n
n
- If required, act as the mechanical engineering Lead on specific projects.
n
- If responsible for a team:
n
n
- Outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress and
n
- Ensure the required services meet the customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
n
n
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies.
n
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
n
- If required, assist and support junior personnel within the mechanical engineering team.
n
- Communicate effectively with the mechanical engineering team and project stakeholders,
including the Customer.
n
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
n
n
Candidate Criteria
n
n
- A recognised and relevant engineering degree.
n
- Must have the eligibility and rights to work in Australia.
n
- Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to the Client and its customers.
n
- A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
n
- Experience in Aluminum smelting or similar industry.
n
- Technical and practical experience in all or some of the below areas.
n n
- Cranes and lifting equipment
n
- Bulk materials handling and storage
n
- Mobile Equipment
n
- Molten Metal Furnaces and Casting
n
- Cooling Towers and cooling water systems
n
- Air Compressors
n
- Fume treatment
n
- Aluminium Reduction
n
- Machine Maintenance and Reliability
n
n
- A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
n
- Competent use of mechanical engineering specific software.
n
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
n
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or RPEV / RPEQ registration
n
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent are preferred.
n
