Responsibilities
n
n
- Perform clinical nutrition assessments, including health history, medications, eating patterns, and swallowing function.
n
- Create tailored nutrition care plans to address conditions such as malnutrition, dysphagia, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel conditions, obesity, and pressure injury risk.
n
- Provide formal dysphagia assessments and prescribe IDDSI‐compliant texture‐modified diets.
n
- Document clinical reasoning and produce functional nutrition assessments for NDIS participants.
n
- Maintain timely, clear reports for aged‐care providers and other stakeholders.
n
- Attend community or home‐based visits as required and communicate recommendations to clients and carers.
n

Client Types
n
Clients include older Australians on Support at Home budgets with nutrition risk factors; NDIS participants with disability‐related nutrition needs; and residents in aged‐care facilities receiving community dietitian services.

Qualifications & Requirements
n
n
- Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status with Dietitians Australia.
n
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited Australian program.
n
- Documented experience in medical nutrition therapy and in aged‐care or NDIS services.
n
- Competence in dysphagia assessment and management, including texture‐modified diet prescription.
n
- Experience with NDIS and/or aged‐care documentation and reporting.
n
- Robust clinical reasoning and the ability to explain dietary advice clearly.
n
- Comfortable working independently in community and home‐based settings.
n
- Valid Australian driver's licence and reliable transport for client visits.
n
n
Checks and Credentials
n
n
- Current National Police Check – valid 5 years.
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check – valid 3 years.
n
- Professional indemnity insurance – required for community‐based and NDIS work.
n
- Dietitians Australia membership – $400 to $800 per year, renewed annually.
n

Pay
n
Indicative hourly rates based on the Health Professionals and Support Services Award (MA000027) as of July 2025:

- Weekday: $38–$58 per hour.
n
- Saturday: $57–$87 per hour.
n
- Sunday: $67–$102 per hour.
n
- Public holiday: $76–$116 per hour.
