About the role
- Monitoring treatment processes and plant performance
- Responding to alarms and abnormal conditions
- Undertaking sampling and basic laboratory testing
- Maintaining pumps, pipelines, valves and associated equipment
- Keeping accurate operational and maintenance records
- First line maintenance of the town's water, wastewater and splash park infrastructure day to day
What we're looking for include;
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, Water Treatment Operations or Wastewater Treatment Operations (or equivalent) — or willingness and ability to obtain this within a Council-determined timeframe
- Gas chlorine handling competency, or willingness to obtain
- Practical experience operating and monitoring water treatment, wastewater or similar process systems
- Sound knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment, including pumps, electric motors, pipelines, valves and related process equipment
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) competency, or willingness to obtain
- Confined Space Entry competency, or willingness and ability to obtain
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ability to communicate sensitively, respectfully and effectively with members of the Aboriginal community.
