Role overview
As a Commercial Specialist, you will provide commercial, procurement and contract management expertise across complex Defence programmes focused on emerging and autonomous technologies. You will work closely with technical, programme and industry stakeholders to develop procurement strategies, lead market engagements and support the delivery of critical capability outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned to complex Defence programmes and capability objectives
- Providing commercial and contracting advice across a range of acquisition and procurement activities
- Supporting and leading approach-to-market activities including RFIs, RFTs and industry engagement initiatives
- Preparing tender documentation including Statements of Work, evaluation criteria and contractual documentation
- Advising on contracting models including standing offers, panels and performance-based arrangements
- Conducting commercial risk assessments and ensuring compliance with governance and procurement requirements
- Supporting contract negotiation, administration and ongoing supplier performance management
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve commercial outcomes
What you’ll need to succeed
- Experience within procurement, contracts or commercial management, ideally within Defence, government or another highly regulated environment
- Robust commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a proven ability to negotiate and influence outcomes across complex projects and programmes
- Experience working with the ASDEFCON contract suite from development through to contract management
- Strong negotiation, commercial analysis and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to interpret contractual documentation and manage commercial risk
- Current NV1 Security Clearance
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law, Finance or a related discipline will be highly regarded
- Knowledge of Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Frameworks will be highly regarded
