The Opportunity

Moonee Valley City Council’s Advocacy, Communications and Engagement team is seeking a Digital Media Advisor and help connect our community with the services, projects and initiatives that matter to them. Working within a fast-paced and team-oriented communications team, you will create and distribute engaging content across Council’s digital channels, including our website, social media, digital screens and multimedia platforms. You will have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects, using your digital media expertise to educate, inform and engage the community while supporting Council’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Create, review and maintain engaging, accurate, accessible and customer-focused content across Council’s digital channels, including the corporate website.
- Create digital content for websites, social media and digital screens using tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Develop a wide range of customer-facing content that educates the community and promotes Council services.
- Contribute to the management of Council’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Vimeo and YouTube.
- Write and schedule social media content, contribute to the social media calendar,



monitor channels and assist with responding to community enquiries.
- Plan, film, edit and publish multimedia content, including short and long-form video, animation, photography, infographics and other digital storytelling assets.
- Identify and develop compelling stories from across Council’s programs, services and community initiatives.
- Assist with creating monitoring, tracking and reporting on Council’s digital channels including Meta and Google, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support Council’s brand awareness and ensure digital content complies with brand guidelines.
- Support the use of digital tools including WordPress, Eventbrite, ScreenCloud, Filecamp and Hootsuite.
- Provide proactive business partner support to Council’s business areas, including developing and implementing communication plans.
- Assist with live streaming of Council meetings and provide rotational on-call support for media and social media enquiries over weekends and public holidays as required.

Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have a degree or diploma in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications , or a related field,



or equivalent relevant work experience and skills in digital communications, content creation and media production. You will have demonstrated experience creating engaging digital content and delivering effective online communication campaigns across multiple platforms and audiences, together with the ability to identify, develop and tell compelling stories through video, photography, written content and multimedia. Experience with video production and editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or CapCut would be highly regarded. You will understand paid digital advertising across platforms such as Google Ads and Meta, including audience targeting and performance reporting, as well as knowledge of accessibility standards, SEO principles and digital content best practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to build productive relationships, manage multiple stakeholders and deliver competing projects and timeframes.
