We are seeking an experienced IT Disaster Recovery & Cyber Resilience Specialist to join a large Australian Government environment on an initial 18-month contract, with a further 18-month extension prospect .

This is a specialist role focused on strengthening enterprise ICT Disaster Recovery and cyber resilience capability, providing strategic direction, governance, assurance and expert advice across a complex technology environment.

You will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure critical technology services can be recovered effectively and in line with business requirements, regulatory obligations and organisational risk appetite.

You will play a key role in the ongoing uplift of ICT Disaster Recovery capability, with responsibilities spanning strategy, governance, assurance, testing and resilience.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Developing and maintaining ICT Disaster Recovery strategies, policies, standards and governance frameworks.
- Designing and maintaining enterprise-level Disaster Recovery capabilities, including recovery plans, technical recovery runbooks and testing programs.
- Coordinating Disaster Recovery governance, reporting and assurance activities.
- Overseeing the development of Technical Recovery Runbooks across technology functions.
- Managing Disaster Recovery audit and remediation activities.
- Integrating Disaster Recovery requirements into architecture, project delivery and operational processes.
- Conducting tabletop exercises, testing and post-mortem reviews.
- Assessing organisational risk, capability gaps and infrastructure resilience.
- Applying contingency planning frameworks and standards including NIST 800-34, ISM and ISO 27001 / 22301.




- Supporting cloud-based continuity practices and solutions across Azure, AWS and SaaS environments.
- Providing risk advice, security assurance and sound decision-making to senior stakeholders.
- Working across cyber security, incident response, risk management, crisis management and broader resilience functions.

We're looking for someone with strong experience across ICT Disaster Recovery, technology resilience and cyber security , combined with the ability to operate confidently at a senior level.

You will ideally bring:

- 5+ years' experience in ICT Disaster Recovery, technology resilience, cyber security or a related field.
- Experience working within Australian Government organisations .
- Demonstrated experience developing Disaster Recovery strategies, policies, standards, operating models or governance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, enterprise architecture, cloud environments, system dependencies, resilience patterns and cyber security principles.
- Experience with Business Impact Analysis (BIA), criticality assessments, recovery prioritisation, RTOs and RPOs .
- Experience implementing and operating Disaster Recovery capabilities, including planning, testing, assurance and recovery exercises.
- Knowledge of Australian Government security and resilience frameworks, including PSPF, ISM and Essential Eight .
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
