The short version

Nine day fortnight as standard, with an RDO every second week. Indoor work in air conditioned hospital spaces rather than out in the sun. Company Vehicle, role primarily based in the Sunshine Coast region, with some Brisbane jobs. Licensed electricians only.

If that already sounds like an improvement, keep reading.

About us

Macemark Technology has been servicing and supplying infection control and reprocessing equipment across Queensland since 1983.

Our technicians look after the sterilisers, washer disinfectors, endoscope reprocessors, sanitisers and water treatment plants that hospitals, day surgeries and dental practices depend on. Atherton Gen5 sterilisers, Ken washer disinfectors and Atherton sanitisers make up a large share of the fleet, alongside a range of other equipment we will train you on.

The work matters. If a steriliser is down, theatre lists stop. Our customers call us because we turn up, diagnose properly and fix it once.

The patch

Your base run covers Gympie through the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane's north side, with some Brisbane metro work as well. You will be based on the north side or the Coast and work from home.

Nights away are occasional rather than routine. You sit within the Brisbane team, so on call is currently one in seven weeks. On call and callout work is paid on top of your base.

What the work looks like

- Preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs on sterilisers, washer disinfectors, sanitisers and endoscope reprocessing equipment
- Fault finding across electrical, mechanical,

pneumatic and control systems, including three phase power, PLCs, steam systems, pumps and valves
- Commissioning and installation support on new equipment
- Performance qualification and validation testing to AS/NZS 4187 and AS 5369
- Job reporting and asset records through our job management system
- Talking with CSSD managers, sterilising technicians and facility staff, and explaining what you found in plain terms

Your schedule is planned by our service coordinators, so you spend your time on the tools rather than chasing bookings. You report to the Service Manager and have direct access to our Technical Manager and the wider technical team whenever you need a second opinion.

What you bring

Essential

- Current Queensland electrical licence
- Solid fault finding ability and the confidence to work through a problem methodically rather than swapping parts
- Current Queensland driver licence
- Willingness to complete a police check and meet hospital immunisation and site access requirements

Well regarded

- Instrumentation or electronics qualifications alongside your electrical trade
- Experience with medical, laboratory or industrial process equipment
- Exposure to steam systems, water treatment, plumbing or hydraulics
- Familiarity with AS/NZS 4187 or AS 5369
- Any prior CSSD, sterilising services or biomedical engineering background

No healthcare experience is fine. Several of our best technicians came from other industries. We will train you on the equipment.

What we cannot train is trade skill and the judgement to work safely in a live clinical workplace.

This role suits you if

- You would rather see a different site and a different problem most days than the same plant room every morning
- You like being the person who walks in, works it out and gets it running again
- You take pride in a report that someone else can rely on. Ours become part of a hospital's compliance record, so they carry weight
- You want work where turning up on time and fixing it properly actually changes someone's day

The technicians who do well here are the ones who like owning a patch and being trusted to run it.

What we offer

- $90,000 to $100,000 base, depending on experience, plus superannuation
- Nine day fortnight. Work nine hour days and take an RDO every second week. It is optional, but every technician in the business has taken it up
- Indoor work. Almost all of it is in air conditioned CSSDs, plant rooms and clinical areas, not out in the sun
- Fully maintained service vehicle, with fuel card and toll tag
- Phone, laptop and tablet, plus all specialised and calibrated test equipment for the job
- Manufacturer training in Australia and, for some product lines, overseas
- Overtime and on call allowances on top of base
- A technical team of 20 who back each other up, with support available whenever you need it
- Long term stability with a business that has been running for more than 40 years

Where it leads

Almost all our product specialists and technical leads have come up through this role. If you want to take ownership of a product line, become the person the rest of the team calls on a particular machine, or move toward a technical lead position, we will back you.

Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
