The company specialises in HV/LV electrical works, cable installation and jointing, testing, fault finding and underground utility construction.

About the Role

As an Earthmoving Plant Operator (General), you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintaining earthmoving plant and equipment across utility infrastructure and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Operate excavators, loaders, skid steers and other earthmoving equipment

Carry out excavation, trenching, loading, spreading and levelling activities

Support underground electrical, communications and utility infrastructure works

Excavate trenches and prepare work areas for cable and utility installation





Select, fit and remove appropriate plant attachments

Operate plant in accordance with site plans, drawings, markers and instructions

Conduct pre-start inspections and report equipment faults or defects

Carry out basic plant servicing, cleaning, lubrication and refuelling

Perform minor adjustments and basic repairs where required

Maintain plant, equipment and work areas in a safe and orderly condition

Follow workplace health and safety, environmental and site-specific requirements

Work closely with electricians, tradespeople, supervisors and other construction personnel

Assist with general civil construction and utility infrastructure activities as required

Complete operational records and documentation

Work independently and as part of a team

Perform overtime and additional hours when required

Skills and Experience

Relevant earthmoving plant operator tickets, licences and/or nationally recognised competencies

Demonstrated experience operating earthmoving and mobile plant

Experience in civil construction, excavation or utility infrastructure

Proven experience operating excavators, loaders, skid steers or similar equipment

Experience with different plant attachments and hydraulic controls





Experience undertaking excavation, trenching, loading, levelling and earthmoving activities

Ability to work from drawings, plans, site markers and verbal instructions

Strong understanding of safe plant operation and workplace health and safety requirements

Ability to conduct pre-start inspections and identify equipment faults

Basic knowledge of plant servicing, lubrication, cleaning and refuelling

Current HR Driver's Licence is desirable

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Reliable, professional and safety-focused attitude

Flexibility to work overtime and across different project requirements

Essential Requirements

Relevant plant operation tickets, licences and/or nationally recognised competencies

Demonstrated experience operating earthmoving plant

Ability to safely operate around heavy mobile plant and equipment

Ability to meet workplace and site safety requirements

Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical

Ability to successfully complete a drug and alcohol screen
