- Grade 1 Occupational Therapist - Graduate Position (Rotating)
- Full Time (80 hours per fortnight with monthly ADO)
- Rotating position across Wonthaggi Hospital Acute and Sub-Acute inpatient wards
- Work closely with the Allied Health team

Occupational Therapy Team
The regional care group’s Occupational Therapy Team provide acute, sub-acute, community and aged care services across multiple sites. Our Occupational Therapy team work closely with nursing, medical, and allied health colleagues to provide holistic, patient-centred care. Our Occupational Therapy team are dynamic, adaptable and supportive. Together, we offer generalist services as well as some specialty services to our community.
We have a strong focus on ‘growing our own’ future regional healthcare leaders and supporting our staff to develop their clinical areas of interest. The team are committed to supporting one another and sharing their knowledge in a trusting environment where learning is encouraged.
Position Summary & New Graduate Program
We have an exciting opportunity for Grade 1 Occupational Therapists to join our Occupational Therapy Graduate Program. Our Graduate Program focusses on consolidating skills and experience through structured interprofessional education sessions, study days, supervision, mentoring and clinical support from the Clinical Development Occupational Therapist and your clinical supervisor.
The successful applicants will be closely supported whilst completing six-month rotations across our clinical areas, which include the acute medical ward, covering general medicine, general surgical and orthopaedic caseloads, and the sub-acute ward which includes inpatient rehabilitation and geriatric evaluation and management (GEM). Grade 1 Occupational Therapists also have opportunities to contribute to group programs such as cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. Grade 1 Occupational Therapists will provide evidence-based assessments and interventions and work closely with our friendly and dynamic multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to our community.
Requirements of the position
Responsible for delivery of Occupational Therapy services in consultation with senior Occupational Therapists.
Required skills/qualification:
Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Master of Occupational Therapy or recognised equivalent
Current and unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Member of or eligibility for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA)
Victorian Driver’s licence
A valid Police Check
Working with Children’s Check
NDIS Workers Check
Flu Vaccination yearly
Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Therapy theory and practice
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care
An understanding of the principles of continuous quality improvement
Established skills in organisation, planning and priority setting
Demonstrated computer skills
