Electrician

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

- Matric (Grade 12)
- Have an applicable trade certificate as an Electrician.
- Valid Driver license
- MV switching certificate
- 5 years+ experience as a Heavy current Industrial Electrician
- Knowledge in fault finding, PLC instrumentation, medium voltage circuits, transformer maintenance, aggregate crushing circuits, screening processes, process manufacturing plants, & the understanding of VSD’s and soft starters.
- Ability to interpret, develop and modify electrical drawings, as well as trace and fault-find electrical circuits where drawings are unavailable
- Be prepared to work after hours and be on standby as and when required
- Be able to work in a quick paced and dynamic environment with pressure timelines
- The ability to work as part of a team but also without supervision
- Scada Control Systems maintenance, including industrial networks and communication protocols
- Fully Computer literate (MS products, PLC programming software and E-Plan)
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and be deadline driven
- Must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Wireman’s license – 3 phase (Advantageous)
- Transformer fault-finding and Maintenance

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)

- Ensuring compliance with all the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act.




- Executing daily electrical maintenance (PM maintenance scheduling and ensures all electrical equipment operates to required OEE’s)
- Identifying causes of electrical dysfunction and repairing
- Ensuring safe work practices and compliance with all SHE Legislation
- Ensuring a safe and legally complaint working environment (SHE and MHSA Legislation) and work practices
- Compliance with all electrical work to SANS0142.
- Report on unsafe working procedures
- Assisting with the training of handymen and learners
- Devising and implementing electrical maintenance plans
- Ability to utilize proper fault-finding techniques to complete work successfully
- Maintain all electrical drawings, electrical maintenance and installations
- Attending to electrical breakdowns and maintenance
- Carry out weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory inspections as per regulations
- Overhead power lines, house wiring, water pumps and boreholes
- Design and wire electrical mains and control circuits
- Results orientated – driving a high performing culture and working in a high-pressure environment
- Transfer skill and train new learners
