About the Role
n
We are looking for an adaptable and energetic experienced Charge Nurse Manager for a permanent 1FTE position located in a rural setting, Murchison.
n
Primary responsibilities include leading a team delivering critical health services, managing 8‐hour shifts Monday to Friday (0700–1700), and participating in the on‐call PRIME roster. The role requires PRIME certification; candidates with prior PRIME experience will receive support to update their qualification.
n
Key duties:
n
n
- Lead nursing staff in emergency medical and accident services, general primary care, and elderly residential care.
n
- Coordinate staffing and resources, ensuring culturally appropriate and secure care delivery.
n
- Support quality improvement initiatives and lead process, policy, and guidelines development.
n
- Act as a clinical mentor and champion transformational leadership within the senior nursing team.
n

Qualifications & Experience
n
n
- Advanced clinical knowledge and expertise.
n
- Strong record of transformational leadership and effective change management.
n
- PRIME certification (desired); willingness to update qualification if eligible.
n
- Experience managing staff and coordinating resources in a pressured environment.
n
- Commitment to excellence in patient care and to family‐centred, culturally appropriate care.
n

Location & Setting
n
Murchison is a rural service town with a permanent population of approximately 1,100, located halfway between Nelson and Westport (1.5hours travel). The hospital provides emergency services 24/7, general primary care, and elderly residential care, including palliative and respite care.
