Sash Masters is seeking an experienced Window Joiner to join our team on a contract basis. Based in Cromer, NSW 2099, this role offers the opportunity to work on specialised joinery projects with a focus on precision craftsmanship and high-quality window manufacturing. You will be responsible for creating, restoring, and finishing bespoke windows and related joinery components, utilising traditional techniques alongside modern methods. This position is ideal for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in their work and is committed to delivering excellence in every project.
What you'll be doing
- Manufacturing and assembling window frames and sashes using traditional joinery techniques and modern machinery
- Cutting, shaping, and finishing timber components to precise specifications and technical drawings
- Restoring heritage and period windows whilst maintaining authentic design and functionality
- Operating and maintaining specialised woodworking equipment and hand tools to ensure accuracy and safety
- Quality checking completed work to ensure all windows and components meet rigorous standards and customer expectations
- Preparing timber and materials, including selecting appropriate grades and finishes for specific projects
- Collaborating with other joiners and craftspeople to meet project deadlines and specifications
- Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
What we're looking for
- Formal qualification or extensive apprenticeship-based experience in joinery, carpentry, or cabinet making
- Proven expertise in window manufacture and restoration, with demonstrated knowledge of period and heritage windows
- Proficiency in using traditional hand tools and modern woodworking machinery safely and effectively
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to precision and high-quality finishes
- Sound understanding of timber properties, wood selection, and finishing techniques
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively whilst meeting project deadlines
- Current knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations in the woodworking and carpentry industry
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and working at height where necessary
- Preferred: Experience in sash window design and manufacture, or previous work with heritage conservation projects
