Role Summary
As an Environmental Officer at UTM Global, you’ll support mining and exploration projects across Australia through desktop environmental assessments, approvals preparation, compliance reporting, and high‑quality technical documentation. This role is ideal for early‑career environmental professionals who enjoy research, regulatory and compliance work, problem‑solving, and contributing to responsible project planning.
Who we're looking for:
We’re looking for an early‑career environmental professional with 1–2+ years of experience who’s excited about the mining and exploration sector and keen to build solid skills in environmental approvals, compliance, and technical reporting. You’ll thrive in a detail‑driven, desktop‑focused role, enjoy working with environmental and geological data, and be motivated to learn the regulatory frameworks that support responsible exploration across Australia.
Ideally, you will bring:
- 1–2+ years of experience in environmental reporting, compliance, assessments, or related. More experienced candidates encouraged to apply, as salary is negotiable based on experience!
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Earth Science, Geology, or a related field.
- Interest in mining, exploration, and how environmental approvals support project development.
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with data, documentation, and structured processes.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to produce high quality and accurate reports.
- A proactive, organised approach to managing tasks, deadlines, and competing priorities.
- Willingness to learn tenement‑related environmental requirements,
geological data workflows, and regulatory processes.
Experience in the responsibilities below will set you apart, but if you don’t meet every criterion, we still encourage you to apply!
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare environmental approvals and documentation, including APOs, EA applications, amendments, and ERC submissions.
- Conduct desktop environmental assessments, constraints checks, and risk assessments to support environmentally compliant project planning.
- Compile Mining and Exploration Activity Reports using client‑supplied data and desktop research.
- Review, organise, and maintain environmental and operational data, including drill hole and exploration activity information.
- Assist with drill hole data entry, reconciliation of geological logs with geophysical logs, and preparation of geological technical reports.
- Prepare clear, accurate environmental technical reports and compliance documentation.
- Provide responsive client support, including answering queries and updating clients on approval progress.
- Contribute to improving internal systems, templates, and reporting processes.
