About the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW (AH&MRC;)
The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council of NSW (AH&MRC;) is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services across New South Wales. We work alongside our Members to strengthen Aboriginal community-controlled healthcare and improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
Our work spans advocacy, policy, workforce development, health promotion, research, training and organisational support. We bring the experience and priorities of our Members into state and national decision-making, advocate for better health systems and investment, and help build the capability and sustainability of the Aboriginal community-controlled health sector.

About the Role
We are looking for a professional, reliable and culturally responsive individual to join as our Ethics Administration Support Officer on a part time (3 days per week), permanent basis.
In this role, you’ll provide administrative support to the Ethics Team and help ensure the smooth operation of Aboriginal health research ethics and governance processes. Reporting to the Ethics Manager, and working closely alongside the Ethics Officer, you’ll support records management, stakeholder enquiries, administration and day-to-day operations, all while building valuable experience in Aboriginal health research ethics and governance.
Responsibilities:
Administration & Records
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Ethics Team.
- Prepare correspondence, maintain electronic records and ensure documentation is accurate, organised and up to date.
- Assist with document filing and records management in line with organisational procedures.
Stakeholder & Committee Support
- Monitor the Ethics Team inbox and respond to routine enquiries or direct them to the appropriate team member.
- Support researchers, students, community representatives and partner organisations with professional and timely assistance.
- Work closely with the Ethics Officer, escalating complex enquiries as needed.
- Coordinate committee meetings, correspondence and documentation, and assist with general Ethics Unit operations.
Learning and Development
- Participate in training to develop knowledge of Aboriginal health research ethics, governance and committee processes.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support ongoing improvements to administrative processes.
- Follow organisational policies, procedures and work instructions.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Experience:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (genuine occupational requirement under relevant legislation).
- Demonstrated administrative, customer service or community support experience.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Interest in Aboriginal health research, ethics, governance or community engagement.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent attention to detail with strong administrative skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of ethics, governance and committee administration.
- Commitment to Aboriginal community control and improving Aboriginal health outcomes.
