As a remote interpreter, you play a significant role in facilitating communication between Cantonese and English speakers. The interpreter needs to be able to process information quickly and with accuracy in a professional manner. It is essential to ensure a quiet and secure setting. Note pads and writing utensils, glossaries, and dictionaries are useful tools.

Candidate Qualifications:

n

- Fluency in English and Cantonese
n
- Minimum 6 months of interpretation experience preferred
n
- Excellent listening, retention and note‐taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy
n
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions
n




- Ability to explain certain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication with permission or at the request of the client
n

Technical Requirements:

- 90% English proficiency
n
- Steady wired internet connection
n
- USB wired headset
n
- Windows 10 or Mac
n

Your responsibilities:

- Answer calls professionally, acting according to the interpreter's code of conduct

- Be aware of the specific vocabulary of the industry the interpreter works with (healthcare and medical, specifically)
n
- Go into internal professional training
n
- Communicate and report to your team leader
n

Based on your location, language testing and background check may be required.
