Data Cabling Technicians - Labour Hire & Permanent Opportunities
We are currently seeking experienced Data Cabling Technicians to join a number of major projects across Canberra.
These opportunities are available on both a labour hire and permanent basis, offering the chance to work on high-profile data centre and critical infrastructure projects in a professional, fast-paced environment.
About the Role
Working as part of an experienced project team, you will be responsible for the installation, termination, testing and commissioning of structured cabling systems across large-scale sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing structured data cabling, including Cat6/Cat6A and fibre optic systems
- Fibre optic installation, termination, testing and fault finding
- Working with MPO/MTP and high-density cabling systems
- Installing and dressing cabling within racks, cabinets and data centre environments
- Reading and interpreting project drawings, plans, specifications and scopes of work
- Working alongside Project Managers, Supervisors and other trades to meet project deadlines
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality
- Completing installation and testing documentation
- Working within established site safety and HSEQ requirements
- Communicating professionally with clients, supervisors and other site personnel
- Identifying and resolving installation issues as they arise
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment
What We’re Looking For
We’re interested in hearing from experienced technicians who have a background in structured cabling, telecommunications, data centres or critical infrastructure.
You will ideally have:
- Current ACMA Cabling Registration
- Appropriate endorsements for Structured, Fibre Optic and Coaxial cabling
- Experience working with Cat6/Cat6A and fibre
- Previous experience within data centres, commercial construction or major infrastructure projects
- A robust understanding of cabling standards, installation practices and testing requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- The ability to read drawings and work from project specifications
- Good communication and stakeholder skills
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A current White Card
- Australian working rights
An ACT Electrical Licence or relevant electrical qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential for all positions.
