The Chance

n

We are seeking a motivated Trades Assistant to join our Service team in Somerton. Reporting to the Service Manager, this hands-on role supports our tradespeople across day-to-day workshop operations and provides rare exposure to industry-leading earthmoving equipment.

n

This is an excellent entry point for Light Vehicle Mechanics wanting to transition into Heavy Diesel. For the right candidate, we offer structured training, OEM-led learning, and genuine upskilling pathways into a Heavy Diesel Mechanic position.

Key responsibilities include:

n

n
- Assist qualified tradespeople with repairs, maintenance, and equipment setups
n
- Support work scheduling, job preparation, and basic documentation
n
- Handle materials, tooling, and workshop equipment safely
n
- Perform general housekeeping to maintain a safe and organised workspace
n
- Complete required reports and paperwork in a timely manner
n
- Assist with servicing and maintaining rental fleet equipment under guidance
n

What we're looking for:

n

n
- Previous experience as a Trades Assistant or a qualified Light Vehicle mechanic with a strong interest in progressing toward Heavy Diesel Qualifications
n
- Previous hand and power tooling experience
n
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
n
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team
n
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and customer service etiquette
n
