The Department of Health provides support to nurses to re-enter practice via the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Supervised Practice - Pathway 1 or Re-entry Program - Pathway 2.

Eligibility
n
To be eligible to apply, applicants must meet the following criteria:
n
n
- Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or New Zealand citizen
n
- Tasmanian resident for the 12-month period, immediately prior to the time of application
n
- A previously registered enrolled nurse who has not practised for 5-10 years and unable to meet NMBA registration requirements
n
- Obtained NMBA written approval to complete Re-entry to Practice via Pathway 1 or Pathway 2
n
- Be accepted into Supervised Practice Pathway 1 with Department of Health (Pathway 1 only)
n
- Be successful in being accepted into a NMBA approved Re-entry to practice Program, including evidence of a secured clinical placement for the practice component of the program (Pathway 2 only)
n

Duties
n
n
- Actively participate in a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved learning plan in accordance with the NMBA, Agency and legal requirements.
n
- Participate in clinical activities and duties under supervision to meet the requirements set by the NMBA in order to have general registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
n
n
Essential Requirements
n
n
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
as an Enrolled Nurse with provisional or general registration with conditions.
n
- Recommended to undertake the Re-Entry Program, Supervised Practice (Pathway 1) in Tasmania.
n
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (applies only to employees working in particular areas).
n
n
Pre-employment checks

- Conviction checks in the following areas: crimes of violence, sex related offences, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty
n
- Identification check
n
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check
n
n
