Your new role
Lead the strategic direction of planning and regulatory services for a regional local government organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive leadership role oversees planning, development, environmental health, sustainability, building services and regulatory functions, while providing high-level advice to Council and driving positive community outcomes. This is an opportunity to influence long-term growth, lead a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to the future direction of a progressive local government.
- Provide strategic leadership across planning, development, environmental health, sustainability, building and regulatory services.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Council on planning, regulatory and legislative matters.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality community and customer outcomes.
- Oversee planning and development assessments, building approvals and compliance activities.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources and funding opportunities to support strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, community stakeholders and external partners.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and best-practice governance standards.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive senior leadership experience within local government, planning, development or regulatory services.
- Demonstrated experience working within the WA planning system and planning framework.
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation, local government processes and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and manage multidisciplinary teams and organisational change.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and report-writing skills.
- Degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
