Overview

We're working with a business in the digital and energy infrastructure sector, in a category attracting very large amounts of capital and growing at a pace that has few local comparisons. The finance function is being built out to match that trajectory, and this role owns the systems and processes underneath it.

What the work looks like

You'd own the finance technology landscape and make sure it operates as one connected ecosystem rather than a set of platforms that happen to sit next to each other. The ERP is the centre of that, alongside FP&A;, procurement and expense, AP and AR billing, project cost tracking, treasury and reporting.

Much of the value is in automation. Procure to pay, record to report, capex and asset management, reporting and consolidation. Designing workflow and system-driven controls that scale with volume instead of requiring more people to run them. There's also genuine appetite here to put AI-enabled finance tools to work, which is open territory rather than a line in a strategy deck.

The other half is anticipating what the function needs next. Growing quickly means the requirements move, and the useful person in this seat is the one who sees what's coming and builds ahead of it rather than reacting once something starts to strain.

You'd set the priorities and make the case for them.

Who this suits

Seven to twelve years across finance systems, finance operations or finance transformation. Big 4 and consulting transformation backgrounds work well, as do people from the finance systems team of a rapid-scaling technology business.

Worth being clear that this isn't a technical systems specialist role. The business isn't looking for someone to configure to a spec. It wants someone who understands finance deeply enough to work out where the leverage sits, then design and deliver it. Technical fluency matters. Judgement matters more.

You'd also need to bring people with you on the journey. Adoption is what makes a system change stick, and the hard part is rarely the build. Influence is a genuine requirement here. It's an individual contributor role.

What's on offer

Broad scope and very little between you and getting things done. Founder-led, accessible leadership. And something fairly rare at this stage of a company's growth: the chance to design the finance systems architecture properly while the business is still small enough to do it well.
