Are you looking for a hands-on role where your work directly supports leading scientific research and innovation?

Join the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) as a Facilities Officer (OO4) and play a key role in maintaining the Health and Food Science Precinct (HFSP) at Coopers Plains.

In this diverse and rewarding position, you will provide operational and maintenance support to ensure specialised research facilities, infrastructure, equipment and services remain safe, reliable and research-ready. Every day will bring variety as you assist with facility operations, coordinate deliveries of goods, chemicals and laboratory gases, support building maintenance activities, and work closely with researchers, contractors and site stakeholders.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will help manage the central stores function, including the receipt and dispatch of goods and mail, maintain chemical storage documentation and safety requirements and contribute to the upkeep of critical scientific infrastructure. You will also assist with monitoring building systems, coordinating maintenance activities and identifying opportunities to improve facility performance and safety.

We're seeking someone who is organised, proactive and safety-focused, with the ability to work independently while building positive relationships with colleagues,

clients and service providers. Solid attention to detail, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to manage competing priorities will be highly valued.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a unique scientific environment that supports Queensland's agriculture and food industries. You'll be part of a department committed to creating a prosperous future for Queensland through innovation, sustainability and world-class research.

To be successful, you must hold a current C Class Driver Licence and Forklift Licence and be able to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including manual handling tasks, lifting up to 15kg, and working safely with chemicals. A willingness to participate in an on-call roster for after-hours emergency maintenance support is also required.
