Moneycare is The Salvation Army’s (Salvos) national financial counselling and financial capability program which seeks to alleviate hardship and build long term resilience. The Salvos understands that everyone’s financial situation is different. Our evidence-based methods are qualified, caring and have a holistic impact on the lives of those who come to us seeking assistance.
About the Role:
- Share money education & provide financial capability support to eligible people across Alice Springs, NT
- Engage community groups regarding money literacy (including town camps)
- Provide community money planning workshops
- Facilitate one on one money worries support
- Support employment readiness through improved financial knowledge, skills and confidence
- This role does not provide financial counselling or legal advice
Key Responsibilities:
- Empower people to build confidence and skills to manage their money
- Provide a safe, nonjudgmental and culturally respectful service
- Support people to access services and strengthen community connections
- Develop collaborative, person centred case plans
- Maintain accurate records and data in SAMIS
- Contribute to a high quality, community member focused Moneycare service
- Promote dignity, choice and self-determination in every interaction
About You:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply
- Strong understanding of Alice Springs community and culture
- Cert III in Community Services or related field or willingness to obtain
- Financial Literacy Education Skill Set or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds / experiencing hardship
- Demonstrated money coaching and negotiation skills
- Current Working with Children's Check (Orche Card)
