About the Role We're seeking a Financial Control Accountant to join our Finance team on a 6-month fixed term contract (with possible extension), to support the delivery of accurate, timely and well-controlled financial accounting activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to strengthen their financial control experience while developing deeper expertise in general ledger management, reconciliations and governance. Working within a supportive team, you'll contribute to month-end activities, process improvement initiatives and the delivery of high-quality financial outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Prepare monthly journal entries and support month-end close activities, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete and delivered within established timeframes.
- Complete general ledger reconciliations and investigate reconciling items, providing well-supported outcomes that maintain strong financial control standards.
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance and the business to deliver financial control activities and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve financial processes, contributing to transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support transformation and change initiatives by identifying and supporting opportunities to simplify, automate and improve financial processes, while helping embed improved processes into business-as-usual operations.
What You'll Bring
- Previous accounting experience, including preparing journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations and working with general ledger accounts.
- Experience working within a medium to large organisation using enterprise accounting systems. Exposure to Oracle or similar financial platforms will be highly regarded.
- Strong technical accounting skills with an understanding of financial controls, governance requirements and month-end processes.
- Experience using reconciliation tools such as Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS) or similar platforms.
- A high level of attention to detail, enabling you to identify issues, investigate variances and deliver accurate financial outcomes.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills that help you build strong working relationships across finance and business teams.
