Expression of Interest - Policy Officers & Senior Policy Advisors

Public Sector People are seeking expressions of interest from AO5-AO8 Policy Professionals for upcoming temporary contract opportunities across Queensland State Government.

n

These roles support a broad range of policy functions across government, including policy development, legislative reform, strategic advice, program design, stakeholder consultation, and government priorities.

n

This is an Expression of Interest only for temporary positions. We are building a pipeline of high-calibre policy professionals ahead of anticipated hiring demand across multiple government departments and agencies.

n

We're looking to connect with candidates who can step into policy-focused roles and deliver high-quality analysis, advice and outcomes within complex and fast-paced government environments.

n

Key responsibilities may include:

n

n
- Researching, analysing and evaluating complex policy issues, trends and emerging challenges
n
- Developing evidence-based policy advice, briefing notes, cabinet submissions and discussion papers
n
- Contributing to the development, implementation and review of policies, frameworks and strategies
n
- Preparing high-quality correspondence, reports, ministerial briefs and executive-level documentation
n
- Engaging and consulting with internal and external stakeholders to inform policy development
n
- Managing policy projects and supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives
n
- Conducting legislative and regulatory analysis to support policy recommendations
n




- Monitoring policy outcomes and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
n
- Translating complex information into clear and concise advice for decision-makers
n
- Supporting cross-government collaboration and contributing to organisational objectives
n

About you:

n

n
- Experience in policy, strategy, governance, program management or related roles (AO5-AO8 level or equivalent)
n
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills
n
- Demonstrated experience preparing policy documents, briefing materials and executive correspondence
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
n
- Ability to analyse complex information and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and consultation experience
n
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a energetic environment
n
- Previous Queensland Government or broader public sector experience is highly regarded but not essential
n
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights
n
