ABOUT THE ROLE
n
The HR Business Partner oversees the full employee lifecycle, ensuring MCM House attracts, develops, engages, and retains talent while maintaining compliant, effective people processes. The role spans recruitment, onboarding, payroll, L&D;, employee relations, WHS, documentation, and related HRIS administration.
n
Based at the Paddington Head Office, the role reports to the Head of Finance. The HR Business Partner plays a key role supporting leaders to deliver people strategies that enable business growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES
n
n
- Lead and manage the full employee lifecycle, from workforce planning and recruitment through to offboarding.
n
- Manage the Human Resources Information System (Employment Hero), ensuring accurate employee records and data integrity.
n
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment, including advertising, candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and employment offers.
n
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, people frameworks, and employment contracts that align with Modern Awards.
n
- Provide advice and partner with leaders on HR, employee relations, and performance management matters.
n
- Support disciplinary processes, investigations, grievances, and workplace conflict resolution.
n
- Maintain confidential HR records and folders relating to workplace resolutions, WHS matters, parental leave, incident reporting, performance improvement plans, investigations, and termination processes.
n
- Partner with the finance team to process fortnightly payroll and manage payroll-related employee enquiries.
n
- Partner with business leaders to manage payroll spend within budget,
conduct salary benchmarking and provide recommendations on remuneration, short-term incentive schemes and retention strategies.
n
- Manage workers compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and associated compliance requirements.
n
- Support Workplace Health and Safety initiatives and promote a protected and positive workplace culture.
n
- Maintain and update organisational structures and workforce planning documentation.
n
- Prepare HR reporting, workforce metrics, and people insights to support business decision-making.
n
- Drive continuous improvement across HR systems, processes, reporting, and employee experience.
n
- Coordinate key people initiatives and recurring forums, including performance review cycles, learning and development, Executive HR meetings, WHS meetings and Culture Committee.

ABOUT YOU
n
n
- Experience managing the full employee lifecycle within a standalone or broad HR generalist role.
n
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards, and HR best practices.
n
- Proactive, hands‐on approach with a solutions‐focused mindset.
n
- Ability to influence and support leaders across all levels of the business.
n
- Solid organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
n
- High level of discretion when handling confidential employee information.
n
- Experience within retail or furniture within a transformational, fast paced environment.
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
