Junior Rail Systems Technician/Engineer – Maintenance & Engineering

Sydney | Casual shift-based role with potential to become permanent

We are looking for a practical, hands‑on all‑rounder interested in developing a career in the railway industry.

The role is primarily focused on maintenance and fault response, working on railway signalling, platform screen doors, mechanical gap fillers and associated metro technologies. You will also support engineering and continuous‑improvement activities aimed at improving product reliability, performance and serviceability.

The role

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance

Inspect, adjust, test and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment

Carry out fault finding, root‑cause analysis and technical investigations

Support product improvements and application engineering for client requirements

Participate in site testing, troubleshooting and technical inspections

Prepare maintenance records, technical reports and engineering documentation

Work with clients, suppliers and project teams

Attend railway sites across Sydney

This is a shift‑based role requiring regular night and weekend work.



Responsibilities will be matched to your qualifications, experience and assessed competency.

About you

We welcome applications from:

Recent Engineering or diploma graduates

School leavers with strong technical and hands‑on aptitude

You should have:

Practical skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic or mechatronic systems

Robust fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability

Good attention to detail and a strong safety mindset

Fluent written and spoken English

Willingness to work rostered night shifts, weekends and at different sites

Railway experience is advantageous but not essential.

Korean language skills are highly advantageous for technical coordination with overseas teams.
