Banana Farm Worker Required

Employed Full-time under the Horticultural Award 2020 (MA000028) *Level 1 position with ability to progress based on experience level Field based position undertaking a range of banana growing activities. This is a physical role which will require the staff member to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Activities include but are not limited to:

- Harvesting
- De-leafing
- De-suckering
- Stringing
- Fixing Irrigation
- Weeding Essential Criteria:
- Physically Fit
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Available to work 38 hours a week (with additional work hours optional)
- Monday - Friday with weekend work available • Ability to work unsupervised
- Good English – ability to understand easy instructions
- Flexibility to work in all weather conditions, such as daytime temperatures of over 35 degrees and long periods of constant rain
- Prepared to start as soon as possible.

- Drivers License
- Experience in farm/construction labouring work




- Experience in driving farm machinery There is potential to upskill and additional training may be provided. Your Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Meeting with farm manager to receive banana blocks to undertake bagging.
- Collecting and preparing equipment and supplies for the days use.
- Completing any prestart machinery checklists.
- Operating farm equipment and machinery to complete tasks.
- Bell injecting banana bell before bell flowers emerge.
- Pruning bunch to the correct number of hands.
- Selecting appropriate coloured bags and sizes for use.
- Bagging banana bunch and ensuring secured correctly and covering bunch.
- Cleaning, sterilising and maintaining equipment.
- Servicing bagging machine and performing minor repairs.
- Reporting completed tasks to the farm manager.
- Additional duties may be required from time to time as requested.
