General Manager – Commercial Finance

This Australian industrial organisation is a leader in their market sector and is part of a larger global organisation. They are now looking for a strategic, commercially minded General Manager – Commercial Finance to help shape the future of their business during a period of growth and transformation.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working hand-in-hand with Operations, Sales, and Customer teams, you will be the financial voice of the business and trusted advisor to the MD. Your focus will be on driving business improvement projects, financial management, business modelling and ascertaining commercial viability for new projects and customer centric opportunities. You will have involvement with presenting to key customer business partners, including reporting and analytical capabilities that underpin long-term partnerships.

Key Accountabilities:

- Lead all non-statutory financial reporting and analysis, including monthly board packs (P&L;, Balance Sheet, Cashflow, AR, capital planning).
- Manage annual planning cycles, budgets, and forecasts for the business.
- Collaborate on developing and refining operational finance systems and processes.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to drive better decision-making across the business.
- Support change and improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis and reporting (KPI/balanced scorecard).
- Manage a small, high-performing team and coach and mentor them.
- Guide capital management decisions, including economic analysis and capital request submissions.




- Play a key role in strategic projects, including building a long-term alliance with key customers.
- Partner with IT on systems improvements and rollouts.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

- Senior experience in finance or commercial leadership (ideally in transport, logistics, or supply chain).
- Proven ability to deliver change and improvement programs across complex organisations.
- Skilled at presenting financial data to non-financial audiences—making the numbers make sense.
- Strong commercial acumen, strategic influence, and a knack for quick, informed decision-making.
- Experience using relevant business systems.
- A track record of coaching and mentoring teams for growth.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, business, or management.
