Comlink Australia
Melbourne
Comlink Australia is transforming, and this role sits right in the middle of it. We’re not your average aged care sector NFP — and we’re looking for a People & Capability leader who isn’t looking for an average HR role.
Most HR roles ask you to hold the line. This one asks you to move it.
We’re innovating, changing and trailblazing, and we’re looking for someone who wants to do that kind of work somewhere it genuinely matters. Someone who can push the culture agenda while keeping us safe at the same time. Those two things aren’t in tension here. The best culture work sits on top of solid generalist practice, sound judgement and knowing exactly when a matter needs to be escalated.
Comlink Australia is here to build healthy communities by creating independence, connection and living well at home. Our workforce is spread across Queensland, delivering in-home care, personal care, transport, respite and allied health. The work is real, the impact is immediate, and our people deserve a People function that backs them properly.
What this role is really about
You’ll lead the culture, capability, safety and workforce agenda for the organisation. Practically, that means:
- Employee Value Proposition — defining what it genuinely means to work here, and making sure the external story matches the internal reality.
- Learning & capability development — owning development end to end, from frontline technical skill through to executive readiness, with the ambition of building the best leaders in the not-for-profit sector.
- Diversity & inclusion — building a practical strategy with targets and outcomes, treated as a leadership capability rather than a compliance exercise.
- Work health & safety — physical and mental — owning the WHS function, with real hazards, real controls, real reporting and leaders confident enough to intervene early.
- Succession planning — building a visible internal pipeline so our next leaders are developed long before the vacancy exists, with real stretch, acting and secondment pathways behind it.
- Workforce planning — making sure our workforce strategy reflects how services are actually delivered, not how an org chart looks on paper.
- Workforce reporting, remuneration & cost management — partnering with Finance to bring commercial discipline to people decisions.
- Leadership standards — lifting the quality of leadership across the organisation, including our Health Leader Program.
- Systems transformation — leading significant change across HRIS, Payroll, WHS and governance platforms.
- Leading the team — developing a team of six: four HR Business Partners, a Senior Learning & Development Business Partner and our WHS Coordinator.
Who we’re hoping to meet
We’re looking for someone with serious generalist depth who is known for the way they work as much as what they know.
- You lead with culture in mind. People trust you because you are consistent, not because of your title.
- You are influential and inspiring. You bring people with you, and you can hold a room and a hard truth at the same time.
- You are kind and honest. You don’t avoid the difficult conversation. You have it early, with respect, with evidence and with the relationship still intact afterwards.
- You are ambitious for the sector. You believe the aged care sector can lead on leadership practice, and you have the track record to make that more than a sentiment.
- You know when to escalate. You’ll try new things, but you have the generalist depth and judgement to know which matters need to go up the line, early and without drama.
- You work smart. If something can be simplified, standardised or automated, you notice — and then you do something about it.
- You customise. Policy is your floor,
not your ceiling. You read each situation on its merits and shape the response to the person and circumstances in front of you.
- You pivot with the business. You’re curious about how our services actually run, and you design people solutions that fit the operation rather than asking the operation to bend around a framework.
- You make the function feel human. Practical, warm, responsive, commercially sharp and genuinely good to work with.
What will make you stand out
- Experience designing organisation-wide learning frameworks, including LMS selection and optimisation.
- Background in multi-site, geographically dispersed workforces.
- Experience in aged care, in-home community care, disability, NDIS or broader health services.
- WHS leadership covering both physical and psychosocial safety, including injury management and return to work.
- Experience leading HRIS, Payroll, WHS or governance system implementations.
- Workforce compliance experience in a regulated workplace, including audit preparation and regulator engagement.
- A postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
A current driver licence and NDIS Worker Screening clearance are required. Influenza vaccination is recommended. What you can expect from us A People voice at the table, not in the minutes.
You’ll join an executive team that wants People to have a real say in what happens next, in an organisation undergoing genuine transformation. Your work will help shape structures, leaders and ways of working that last.
And you’ll work alongside people who care deeply about our people and the people we serve.
Ready to have a conversation?

We’d genuinely like to read it.
